Abstract | The paper considers the issue of vegetation rehabilitation over the disturbed territories around copper-nickel smelters in the Murmansk region. Research tasks include: assessment of trees and shrubs and chemical analysis of soils and plants at sites remediation. Assessment of trees and shrubs was carried out in plots, where plant height was measured and noted signs of damage to plant industrial pollution, insects, fungi and rodents. The selection of soil samples and leaves of trees and shrubs was carried out by conventional methods from each plot at 5-fold replication Actual acidity (pH) was measured by potentiometry in aqueous suspension using a ratio soil: solution for organic horizons as 1:25 and for the mineral horizons as 1:2.5. Definition of metabolic compounds of Ca, Mg, K, Na, soil samples were carried out by extraction with 1 M CH3COONH4 (pH = 4.65). For organic horizons used the same ratio of soil and the propellant, and that in determining the pH for mineral — 1:10. Metal content was determined by atomic absorption spectrometry, P — colorimetry, and C — according to Tyurin method, total N — according to Keldal method. Based on numerous years of experimental and industrial activity of remediation of industrial barren land, an analysis is provided of approaches applied for the rehabilitation of vegetation in conditions of aerial industrial pollution. The results of vegetation condition and the content of elements accessible for plants are presented depending on various approaches applied for vegetation rehabilitation in the industrial barren land areas. The paper is designed for forest ecologists, agrologists, college lecturers and students. |
