A semiempirical formula for rough determination of classifying hydrocyclone volumetric throughput is proposed. The formula's parameters are hydrocyclone's diameter, inlet pressure and feed slurry density. A corresponding formula is also given for calculating the apparatus weight output by solids. Comparison of the calculated data with hydrocyclones' commercial operation results shows that the proposed relationships are in a considerably smaller error, than other applied formulas. The obtained relationships may be used in selection of classifying hydrocyclones and estimates of their throughput.
