Abstract

A specific feature of mining production is the formation of huge volumes of process wastes, far exceeding, as a rule, the volume of commercial products and placed (accumulated) over large land areas for decades. These businesses include mining and processing enterprises of JSC "ALROSA", the main highvolume industrial waste which are overburden and quarry "empty" rock mining and mining-capital and the preparatory work of underground mines, waste (tailings) processing of kimberlites and industrial waste infrastructure (support) units (fleets, repair and construction shops, warehousing, etc.). The classification of waste classified as dangerous for the environment can be calculated or experimental method. One of the experimental methods is the biological testing of waste water extract to assess the in vitro quality of the object environment using living organisms, cells, cellular structures and biological molecules. Bioassay methods sufficiently sensitive, relatively inexpensive, and express the opinion of the authors take into account the degree of harmfulness of the combined effect of all pollutants investigated sample, give an integral estimate, which is not a substitute for quantitative chemical analysis, but rather complements it, and to what degree can anticipate. The authors present the results of biological testing of waste mining and processing enterprises of JSC "ALROSA", and suggests ways of improving regulations governing the use of the results of biological testing of waste mining industries.
