Abstract | During the transportation of crushed rock, the hits of large pieces on the cargo bearing rollers upset the balance of the tractive element operation. This element operation stochastically increases the dynamic loads. Adding to the static loads, these loads result to the fatigue failures of the defector drums` shells. In connection with this, it is necessary to have an information about the possible maximum values of the loads acting on the elements of the drum, by the calculations on the structural strength of deflector drums. As a result of "bypass", there are held the engineering calculations and there are created the dependences of the indexes on the conveyor productivity, the linear cargo tornage and belt speed. To obtain the high-quality and reliable results, the calculation algorithm of the proposed methodology is introduced in the computer program "The strength calculation methodology of the construction of the heavy underground conveyors volltrums` defector drums". This computer program is created for these purposes. As a result of the researchings, there are established the total and single item pressures. These pressures allow to determine the constructive decisions to reduce the VAT of the deflector drums` shells. For this purpose, increasing the drum diameter and the shell thickness is irrational, because it would require the structural reinforcement throughout the frame conveyor drive station. In this regard, there are considered two ways of strengthen of the deflector drum shells: conventional cylinder and V-shaped stiffening ring. The comparison of different designs and sizes of heavy belt conveyors volltrums` deflector drums was held using a computer program. It shows that the drums with shells, which are enhanced by V-shaped stiffening ring are more preferred by the durability and safety factor. |
