Abstract

There is presented an overview of operations in and around the hydrometallurgical processing of copper-nickel raw materials, which include liquid extraction. The efficiency of application of the liquid extraction is demonstrated as an example of processing of intermediate products and wastes of Kola Mining and Metallurgical Company (Kola MMC). This efficiency is appeared during the obtaining of high-purity cobalt and cobalt salts to purify the nickel solutions from zinc and copper, regenerate the sulfuric acid, as well as to extract some rare elements and obtain their pure compounds. There is given the description of technological schemes of cobalt extraction from hydrate cobalt concentrates, including hydrochloride extraction technology of obtaining of cobalt salts and pure electrolyte cobalt from cobalt concentrates. This technology is introduced on the “Severonikel” Complex of Kola MMC. Iron chlori de (III) solutions are obtained during iron slag cakes processing. Obtaining of the hydrochloric acid by method of pyrohydrolysis from iron chloride (III) solutions is proposed to provide the new cobalt industry with hydrochloric acid. There are given the results of laboratory testings of complex processing technology of wash sulfuric acid and industrial testings of regeneration method of sulfuric acid from steamed electrolytes of copper production. There is presented the technology of ectraction purifying of partly purified electrolytes from zinc. This purifying was implemented on “Severonikel” Complex of Kola MMC. There is given the principal technological scheme of extraction purifying of solutions from zinc and copper. These solutions are obtained during the hydrochlorattion of copper-nickel Bessemer mate. It is shown that in most developed extraction processes, the problem solving of the dividing of non-ferrous metals and purifying the solutions from contaminations could be reached at the expense of using extragents on the basis of tretiary amines.
