Abstract | A new method of channel beams production with varying wall bending is designed, studied and implemented, allowing to combine in shaped passages a high-altitude deformation (reduction) and intensive stretching of the wall (elongation). The advantages of the method of rolling channel beams are shown comparing with the reputed ones. The experiments have been conducted at 600 largesection rolling mill of Alchevsky Integrated Metallurgical Works. The specialists of Donbass Stete Technical University and Alchevsky Integrated Metallurgical Works have suggested the technology that differs from conventional methods by the technique of rolling with varying wall bending in several roughing and pre-finishing passages and its consequent unbending in pre-finishing passage. It was found out that shape forming in these passages is occurring with relation between horizontal wall sections (adjacent to flanges) and length of its middle line as much as 0.12–0.22, while the angle between inclined and adjacent wall sections makes 30–60o. It is established that the designed method allows to obtain the broadening of the wall greatly exceeding the possible broadening resulting from the known methods of channel beams rolling. Application of a new method allows reducing energy consumption, greatly extend the range toward increasing the size of channel beams without redesign of the work stands and additional capital expenditures. |
