Abstract | The problem of processing red mud — fine-grained waste production of alumina from bauxite by Bayer process became urgent after a disaster in Hungary, when a dam burst in slurry pits. This article presents the approximate evaluation of technological options for the preparation of red mud dump alumina production for shipment to customers. The variants of the preparation of red mud dump alumina production and processing for shipment, depending on the humidity of red mud. Technological parameters are compared receipt of the wet red mud in a rotating tube furnace and the sinter cake machine, which can be used for open-hearth furnaces in the smelting and complex processing. For complex processing of red mud, you can ship without the drying and firing, which will prevent spillage of the material through the cracks of cars and big losses when transporting it. We consider the properties of red mud lumps of varying moisture content, a feature of its influence on the process of briquetting. Compares the performance of agglomeration process red mud ways briquetting, sintering in a rotary kiln and grate with a soakage air (agglomeration). Briquetting does not require a flow of heat and fuel. Briquettes are suitable for the use of red mud. Production of briquettes will supply the red mud in the chemical industry by hydrochemical techniques, including for rare earth metals and other valuable products. Specified technological parameters of briquetting with a binder in a cast-iron chips and NaCl. In agriculture, recommend the use of red mud to neutralize acid soils. |
