Abstract

Influence of bainite structure on mechanical properties after patenting of wire made of Steel 80ps is examined. Analysis of mechanical properties and microstructure of the samples of cord steel (80ps) obtained in the laboratorial conditions after isothermal decomposition of austenite at the temperature of lead melting 610–400 oC has shown the below-mentioned factors. The most optimal combination of mechanical properties and microstructure is provided by cooling in lead melt at 590–570 oC; transformation of austenite in all examined temperature interval is accompanied by bainite formation, while its amount rises during lowering of lead melt temperature as well as its morphology and distribution features vary. Additionally, amount, morphology and features of bainite distribution have substantial effect on mechanical properties of patented wire made of high-carbon steel 80ps at lead melt temperature lower than 560 oC when its part in microstructure exceeds 10%. Quantity and structure state of bainite providing high mechanical properties of high-carbon steel wire are determined. It should be mentioned that the above-mentioned results of investigations have been obtained in laboratorial conditions, therefore temperature and temporarily conditions can not coincide with conditions of austenite formation and decomposition at industrial production units.
