Nowadays, due to the success of polymeric materials chemistry, a large number of multilayer films is developed. These films are designed to replace the usage of foil in the production of food package. However, in spite of all efforts, chemists still can not create the material, which could be similar to the aluminum foil, according to its barrier properties. None of the developed multilayer polymeric materials can give the package all those barrier characteristics, which are implemented in the aluminum foil package. The application of aluminum foil as a component in multilayer packages, provides the long-term storage of food without adding any special chemical compounds, like stabilizers and preservatives, which ensure the safety of products during the prolonged storage. More wide range of aluminum alloys, which are used for the foil production, can create the multilayer packaging materials for various applications. The article gives the a package, which is capable of the reliable safety guaranteeing of the product consumer properties, it is advisable to choose the grade of alloy, and other parameters of foil, individually in each case, depending on the type of the product, its packing mass, chosen dates, storage conditions, and much more.
