Chernye Metally

The first section of the August issue is devoted to the Lipetsk Scientific School for metal forming. A historical essay about the people who created and developed this scientific school is presented, its contribution to improving the technology of sheet rolling production, automation of processes, digital control of rolling mills, etc. is shown. A mathematical model for the thermal state of the metal on the run-out table using the Deform-3D software package is proposed; the model can be used at known accelerated cooling units. The industrial studies are described, which confirmed that the use of rolled stock produced according to the temperature-speed mode developed by the authors provides the required mechanical properties of cold-rolled strips, significantly reduces the machine time of rolling strips in the finishing group of stands. The influence of technological parameters of rolling in universal stands on the process of displacement of the metal from the edges to the longitudinal axis of the breakdown is studied. A mathematical model of the process of splitting spherical metal bodies by a constrained central impact is proposed, which makes it possible to determine the conditions for the guaranteed destruction of a crushed particle. A model of interaction between business and the university for training personnel for the digital transformation of enterprises is described on the example of the master's training program at the chair for Metal Forming of the LSTU.

The Rolling and other metal forming processes section presents the experience of NLMK DanSteel in mastering the production of shipbuilding steels D36, D40 and D420 up to 55 mm thick after normalizing rolling, the assortment that has been mastered is actively used in the construction of cruise liners. The finite element method was used to verify the reliability of modeling the hot plastic deformation of AISI 310S steel, the high accuracy of the models and the possibility of their use for predicting the microstructure of steel in industrial conditions were proved.

The Metal Science section is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the SM12 chair for Technologies of Rocket and Space Engineering of the N. E. Bauman MSTU. The stages of formation and development of the chair, its founders, key developments are presented. Studies on the approximation of deformation diagrams of steels by their mechanical characteristics are described. The study of the possibility of introducing chromium carbides into the deposited metal melt was carried out. It was found that chromium carbide, when it enters the weld pool melt, is completely destroyed, and this leads to alloying of the deposited metal with chromium and causes an increase in its hardness.

The Ecology and Economics section examines the issue of introducing a carbon tax to stimulate the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. According to the authors, such measure can lead to significant losses of profit at ferrous metallurgy enterprises and restrictions on investment activities.

In the Chronicle section, the editorial board and Chernye Metally journal editors, the Ore and Metals publishing house congratulate Rafael Mirgasimovich on his 65th birthday. The Ruda and Metals publishing house, editorial board and Chernye Metally journal editorial board express their condolences to the family, relatives and friends of Anvar Abdullaevich Yusupkhodzhaev.
