Gornyi Zhurnal
The January 2022 (No. 1) issue of Gornyi Zhurnal appears on the occasion of IV Technical Council for Geomechanics in the framework of the International Symposium—Miner’s Week 2022, and addresses various aspects of theoretical, applied and experimental geomechanics.
The scope of this issue embraces the Council’s topic Identification of Geotechnical Risks and Production-Related Accidents—The Mainstay of Safe and Efficient Mining. This issue publishes the works of managers, top specialists and researchers from various mining companies and institutions. They discuss general rockburst patterns, prediction of the stress–strain behavior, mine support and stability, as well as improvement of identification of geotechnical risks and production-related accidents in the course of mining with regard to the process specificity. The brittleness criteria are determined for rocks in uniaxial and triaxial compression. The procedure developed for the parametric characterization of joints in rock mass using optical borehole imaging is described. The optimal parameters of mining systems are assessed, and the use of Micromine information system is discussed. The other present-day geomechanical challenges are also covered in this issue.
