Non-ferrous metals play a key part in the nuclear industry as nuclear energy resources, based on uranium and plutonium; zirconium alloys (basis of construction materials of heating units and fuel assemblies); systems of control and protection of nuclear reactors, which basis are rere-earth metals, etc. The subject area of this issue: non-ferrous metals in nuclear industry – is described in the articles, which are written by the specialists from National Research Nuclear University «MEPhI» and Siberian Chemical Combine of State Atomic Energy Corporation «Rosatom».
