Abstract

The problems of additional recovery of iron and its oxidized compounds from utilized steel-smelting slags are considered in the article. The main attention is paid to solving of social problems connected with improvement of the ecological situation around iron and steel works and to increase of its efficiency due to additional recovery of valuable components from industrial wastes. The analysis of chemical, fractional and mineralogical composition of processed steel slags is done. It is shown that there is a noticeable amount of the iron, which concentration comparably to poor iron ores of Uzbekistan, after allocation of magnetic components in dump slags. Various methods are investigated for their allocation, and gravitational enrichment on a concentration table is recognized as the most optimum technology. The obtained material can be used as import-substituting raw materials in the steel making technology at JSC “Uzmetkombinat”. Putting into practice of this technology will allow to expand raw material base of the works without additional expenses for geological and mining operations and to transfer to the waste-saving process. Slag dumps in this case can be actually eliminated, what will have positive effect on environment protection.
