Abstract | The paper observes the role of designer-technologist in the process of development of metallurgical industry. A collection of knowledges and skills that should be the features of any technologist for designing of the new or modernizing of the existing plants is presented. Experience of the Institute of material science and metallurgy in the fi eld of training the professionals of new formation is described. It is shown that further development of metallurgy requires that knowledge level and skill complex of masters should allow them to operate as chief engineers of projects, i.e. as managers of these projects for development of industrial complexes. It is suggested that perspectively, under certain circumstances, these project managers can manage the whole investing and construction activities of such project. Therefore, educating programs have to improve and be oriented on preparing not only project managers for development of metallurgy, but also project managers for development of machine-building, power engineering and other industrial branches. |
