Many metallurgical processes are accompanied with waste heat that often has not been used again and was emitted in the atmosphere. Power engineering unit of waste heat transform waste heat in electric current. These units have corporate title ORC (Organic Rankine Cycle), named so in memory of W. Rankine, the Scottish physic and engineer. The feature of ORC units in comparison with conventional ones is that they use organic substance (bioethanol) instead of water, at it displays its efficient thermodynamic properties just at low temperatures. So, waste heat flows can be used efficiently starting from the temperature 230 ºC. ORC units have been approved during several large field testings and have been already used successfully in metallurgical industry, being in serial production. In addition to electric current, they produce also useful heat.
