Abstract |
ALROSA company widely uses mineral processing machines and plants of the domestic and foreign manufacture. Diamond rock processing extensively employs soil pumps mostly represented by the domestic-manufacture pumps of the type of GRAT. Bearing boxes of the pumps are among the most critical units that govern operation of the entire pumping assembly. From the analysis of operational characteristics of bearing boxes at Processing Plant 3 at ALROSA in 2015, only 8% of the replaced bearings worked out their design life. The limited life determinants are unbalanced wheels and hard heating of bearings due to high specifi c loading and rotation velocities. Aiming to lower the temperature and to improve the heat removal, it is suggested to use bimetals in bearing boxes of pumping assemblies. For the improved heat removal from the surface of bearings, it is proposed to install a heat-removing plate made of a material with the high thermal conduction characteristics in the pump body part that contacts the bearing collar. The experimental research into heating temperature at the friction surface of bimetals with the heat-removing insertions of diff erent sizes has shown that it is possible to reduce the heating temperature by 50% depending on the size of the heat-removing insertion. Subject to the contact loading and rotation velocities of the pump shafts, it is possible to select an optimal size of the heat-removing insertion and, thus, to improve heat removal from the bearing box and, accordingly to lower heating temperature of bearings. |
