The article reviews the student services meant to create the environment for the students to handle various problems connected with training, education management, community life, social assistance etc., based on the available experience of Russian and foreign universities. It is necessary to invite dedicated personnel to ensure the wanted quality of student services. Practical application of methodology of an innovative structural subdivision establishment in form of a multi-functional center is illustrated in terms of the Student Office at the National University of Science and Technology (NUST MISIS). The organization stages of the structural subdivision meant for supervision and maintenance of education of bachelors, specialists, masters and post-graduates are described. In terms of the structural subdivision established at NUST MISIS, the capability of optimization in document flow and in people management in order to cut up time of paperwork and student application processing is demonstrated. It is proposed to handle application processing with and without the participation of applicants. The mechanism of social assistance is re-adjusted to be of higher efficiency for students. In compliance with the proposed principles, the work of the Students Office is organized, and the organization standards are formulated for a structural subdivision establishment in the form of a multi-functional center in universities.
