Abstract |
In recent years, large-scale geological prospecting and geophysical studies of deep-seated rock strata have been carried out in Azerbaijan to develop exploration crit eria for oil and gas detection. Exploration drilling has been relocated from the eastern regions to the less studied central and western areas. At the same time, it is critical to undertake generalization of the available data on lithological and stratigraphic systems, assessment of their explorability and prediction of deep oil and gas reservoirs. The lithologic, petrographic and petrophysical properties of the Mesozoic–Cenozoic reservoir rocks in the South Caspian and Kura depressions, and on different sites of the Pre-Caspian–Guba oil and gas province are studied in detail. Positive results are obtained, and the main parameters of the reservoirs are determined. At the same time, the analysis has found that the reservoir properties of rocks differ in depth, and this, in turn, means that the prospects for the oil and gas potential of the South Caspian depression are mainly associated with the lower horizons of productive strata. |
