Tsvetnye Metally

The November issue of the journal presents in its beginning the paper “Increase in income of employees: objective and its achievement” by B. A. Kotlar and A. M. Okunkov. The authors offer to make amendments to the 2017-2019 Sectoral Tariff Agreement for the Russian Mining and Metals Industry and to collective agreements of the companies required to comply with Order of the President of the Russian Federation No. 204 dated 7 May 2018.

Regarding the section “Heavy non-ferrous metals”, this issue also contains a paper of interest devoted to features of copper extraction from slags, when reducing by gas flushing. The authors examined a lot of studies to analyze a contribution of mechanical losses to total copper losses with slags.

It is worth to pay attention to papers published in the section “Light metals, carbon materials”. V. A. Matveev and D. V. Mayorov present in their paper an opportunity to produce aluminium oxide with lower impurity elements, when processing aluminium ammonium sulphate substracted from nepheline, and offer a process flow diagram.

The section “Rare metals, semiconductors” contains a paper by a group of authors from the Institute of Metallurgy and Materials Science of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The authors studied how conditions of leucoxene concentrate reducing roasting influenced a capacity to open during sulfuric acid breaking up, determined optimum parameters of the process and showed that leucoxene concentrate could be used as source raw materials, when producing pigmentary TiO2 by a sulphuric acid process.

The paper in the section “Metal working” studies processing methods of liquid forging for AK7 alloy. The authors examined a mathematical model of the process and experimentally stamped hollow axisymmetric forgings. Applying parameters selected by authors, forgings were manufactured without defects, such as shrinkage cavities, gas unsoundness, and microcracks.
