The February issue is opened by the «Steel Production and Foundry» Section. The SALCOS technology of smooth decarburization of steel, aimed at the gradual use of renewable energy sources in steel production, is presented. In the 2nd part of the article devoted to the raw material base of ferroalloys, microalloying ferroalloys are considered. Authors from Siberian University and the Chuvash State. University studied the dependence of properties of non-stick coatings on the mode of mechanical activation of graphite.
The “Rolling and other metal forming processes” section includes the 2nd part of the article on main trends in the development of rolled products, pipes and hardware, covering issues of pipe production, metal trade and standardization. Mathematical models of the stress-strain state of a metal during plastic forming of a sheet blank and welding of large diameter pipes are described, which allow to choose rational parameters for forming a pipe profile. The results of the study of the contact interaction of the strip with work rolls during continuous forming of welded pipes in the pipe electric welding line showed that the values of the pulling forces found experimentally are significantly lower than the calculated ones. Studies by authors from the Volgograd Technical University make it possible to recommend replacing a double heat refining with a double thermal cycling and tempering in order to reduce the cost and time of heat treatment while maintaining the required toughness and strength of thick-walled pipes. The publication of authors from Yekaterinburg is of practical interest: a simplified model of the process of roll briquetting of finely dispersed materials is proposed, which allows to determine the geometry parameters of the deformation zone during roll briquetting.
The Metallurgical equipment section presents a modernized version of the VDN-18 fan. Its use will reduce the labour-intensity of maintenance and repair of the fan and increase the reliability of air supply to the process equipment. A team of authors from Russia and Ukraine presents a vibrodiagnostic system for rolling production equipment, which automatically provides complete information about its technical condition, etc.
The "Personnel Policy" section is devoted to employee motivation formation.
Materials of the “From the History of Metallurgy” section are of particular interest. Research of Georgian damask weapons of the 19th century from the collection of the Mining Museum of the Mining University regarding its chemical and phase composition is presented, the carbon content in the studied samples was determined. The article is presented in color with photographs of samples of blades.
The February issue of the journal includes a color insert dedicated to the 65th anniversary of Ural Steel.
